The High-tech Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently announced the "2024 List of Excellent Cases in Future Industry Innovation and Development." The selected cases fall into three categories: iconic products, leading enterprises, and typical application scenarios, focusing on six key areas: future manufacturing, future information, future materials, future energy, future space, and future health.
Among the 67 "iconic products" disclosed, UtmoLight's "square-meter-scale perovskite photovoltaic module" was listed alongside forward-looking products such as Unitree's "humanoid robot" and Alibaba Cloud's "Tongyi Lingma." As the sole representative from the perovskite industry and one of only two from the photovoltaic sector, it successfully secured a spot among the 11 entries in the "Future Energy" category.
In December 2024, the MIIT launched a solicitation for excellent cases in future industry innovation and development. For "iconic products," the selection criteria emphasized products that represent the direction of future industrial development, have achieved industrialization, demonstrate cutting-edge technological breakthroughs, and hold promising application prospects.
Perovskite solar cells represent a new generation of photovoltaic technology driven by material innovation. With advantages such as lower costs, higher efficiency, reduced carbon footprint, and broader application scenarios, they are emerging as a new productive force in future energy. This technology can either develop independently as single-junction cells or form tandem structures with crystalline silicon technology, breaking efficiency bottlenecks of existing photovoltaic technologies while expanding innovative applications like Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) and mobile energy solutions, propelling the photovoltaic industry into a new development phase.
UtmoLight's square-meter-scale perovskite photovoltaic module being selected as a "Future Energy" iconic product not only recognizes its technological leadership but also underscores the transformative potential of perovskite technology in shaping the future of energy.
UtmoLight has consistently prioritized innovation-driven development. Addressing critical challenges in large-area fabrication and stability improvement, the company developed the "Utmorigin+" technical solution and established a comprehensive "three-dimensional" stability verification system integrating IEC, ISOS, and outdoor empirical testing. Continuous empirical data validates and optimizes the reliability and power generation performance of perovskite photovoltaic technology.
Through relentless innovation and self-revolution, UtmoLight has repeatedly set new efficiency records and rapidly enhanced power generation gains. Earlier, its 0.72m² commercial-grade module passed IEC standard stability tests in one time and obtained the industry's first TÜV certification. In January this year, authoritative testing by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) confi rm ed that UtmoLight's 0.72m² perovskite module achieved a stabilized aperture-area efficiency of 18.1% (corresponding to 130.5W), setting a new global record for square-meter-scale perovskite modules.
Beyond being a technological "pacesetter," UtmoLight's perovskite modules are gaining broader recognition and adoption in multiple commercial projects nationwide, leading the industrialization and commercialization of perovskite technology. Currently deployed in commercial projects across Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Guangdong, Hebei, and other regions with diverse climates including high temperatures, humidity, and strong irradiation, the modules demonstrate exceptional stability and power generation performance. In February, UtmoLight's world-first GW-scale perovskite module production line commenced operations, with an expected annual output of 1.8 million perovskite modules upon full capacity, further accelerating large-scale applications in ground-mounted power plants, distributed photovoltaics, and BIPV scenarios.
With the MIIT's announcement of the 2024 excellent cases, the roadmap for a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation has become clear. As a global pioneer in perovskite industrialization, UtmoLight will leverage this recognition as a "Future Energy" iconic product to align with national strategies, accelerate breakthroughs in critical technologies such as long-life encapsulation processes and advanced material development, optimize high-efficiency production capacity, and leverage perovskite modules to catalyze a paradigm shift in China's future energy system, providing robust support for enhancing the competitiveness of China's future industries.
